Seth Rollins (with Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury) versus Jack Swagger (with Zeb Colter)
They lock up and Swagger with a waist lock and take down. Rollins gets to his feet and he gives Swagger a standing switch but Swagger backs Rollins into the turnbuckles. Swagger goes for the ankle but Rollins gets to the floor. Rollins with a kick but Swagger with a side head lock and take down.
Swagger with a shoulder tackle or two and then he clotheslines Rollins over the top rope to the floor. Rollins relaxes on the announce table while we have a stand off. Swagger gives Rollins a ‘We The People’ and Rollins goes after Swagger but Swagger punches Rollins. Rollins with a drop kick as they return to the ring. Rollins with a kick to the back and then he punches Swagger in front of the referee.
Rollins kicks Swagger in the corner while the referee warns him. Rollins sends Swagger to the floor and we go to commercial.
We are back and Rollins with a rear chin lock but Swagger powers out of the hold. Rollins with a wraparound clothesline and he gets a near fall. Rollins with knees to the back. Rollins punches Swagger in the corner. Rollins rolls away and then he hits a running forearm into the corner. Rollins kicks Swagger in the head but Swagger with a belly-to-belly slam.
Rollins with a flatline into the turnbuckles and Swagger’s offense has been stopped for now. Rollins with a running kick to the midsection. Rollins chokes Swagger in the ropes. Rollins kicks Swagger while the referee warns him. Rollins with a suplex and he gets a near fall. Rollins with a rear chin lock. Rollins gets on Swagger’s back and he applies a sleeper.
Swagger tries to back Rollins into the turnbuckles but Rollins releases the hold. Rollins misses a splash into the corner and Swagger with a clothesline and boot to the head. Swagger tries for the double jump Swagger bomb but Rollins gets his feet up. Swagger sees it and he tries for the ankle lock but Rollins is in the ropes.
Swagger pulls Rollins out of the ropes and Rollins lands on his feet but Rollins misses an enzuigiri and Swagger tries for the ankle lock again. Rollins goes for a springboard move but Swagger catches him and hits a belly-to-belly slam for a near fall. Swagger runs Rollins into the turnbuckles and he puts Rollins on the turnbuckles. Swagger punches Rollins and he goes for a superplex but Rollins knocks him to the mat.
Swagger jumps to the turnbuckles again and Rollins with a head butt. Rollins goes for a sunset flip power bomb but Swagger holds on to the ropes and Rollins hits the mat. Swagger with a Swagger Bomb for a near fall. Swagger dives for the knee but Rollins jumps over Swagger. Rollins is sent into the air and Swagger catches him and applies the ankle lock. Rollins gets to the ropes and Swagger releases the hold.
Swagger gets distracted by Noble and Mercury pointing at Colter. Swagger is dropped on the top rope and Rollins with a springboard knee to the head followed by Black Out for the three count.
Winner: Seth Rollins
Renee Young is in the interview area with Seth Rollins. Renee asks Seth about his loss to Roman Reigns on Raw and whether he thinks that was a setback. Seth asks if the briefcase looks like a setback. What about Dean Ambrose being MIA? Is that a setback? After he gets rid of Roman on Sunday to be the last member of the Shield standing, is that a setback? Seth says that he is a man of opportunities and he will show in his match against Big E that it is brains over brawn. When he is finished with Big E, Seth says that he will turn his attention to Roman Reigns. Seth says that his brain will tell his foot to curb stomp Roman Reigns’ head into any object he wants
Big E versus Seth Rollins
Rollins goes to the floor as the bell rings to listen to the You Sold Out chants. He returns to the ring and Rollins with a waist lock. Big E with a hip lock take down and Rollins goes back to the floor. Rollins returns to the ring and Rollins with kicks and punches to Big E followed by forearms to the back while he has Big E in a front face lock. Big E runs Rollins into the corner and he connects with shoulders.
Rollins goes to the floor again and he eventually returns to the ring. Rollins goes into the ropoes and then he punches Big E while the referee was in the way. Rollins with kicks and elbows. Rollins with a punch to the midsection but Big E with a shoulder tackle and he gets a near fall. Big E with a punch to the midsection followed by an Irish whip and running shoulder into the corner. Big E with another Irish whip and running shoulder into the corner. Big E with more punches to the midsection. Rollins with a kick followed by back elbows. Rollins tries for a suplex and Big E blocks it. Big E tries for a suplex but Rollins lands on his feet. Rollins goes for a cross body but Big E catches him and Big E with a series of back breakers while holding on to Rollins. Big e gets a near fall.
Big E clotheslines Rollins over the top rope to the floor and Big E follows. Big E with a punch and he sends Rollins into the announce table. Big E with a forearm to the kidneys and then he Irish whips Rollins into the ringside barrier. Big E presses Rollins over his head and he sends Rolins back into the ring. Rollins goes for a springboard move and Big E stops him but Rollins drops Big E on the top rope and Rollins with a suicide dive as we go to commercial.
Seth Rollins comes to the ring and he has something to say. The crowd tells Seth that he sold out and he waits for it to die down before speaking. Seth welcomes everyone to ‘Where Are They Now’, starring the most powerful group in the history of the WWE…The Shield.
We see a photo of The Shield on the TitanTron. Seth says they were three of the most dominant superstars in the history of the WWE. They put the entire industry on notice. Where are we now? Let’s start with the ‘Lunatic Fringe’ himself, Dean Ambrose. He is unstable, unrelenting, and one of the most talented ever to step foot in this company. He made one fatal error when Dean went head to head with him. We see the footage of the Falls Count Anywhere Match from the Raw after SummerSlam.
He asks where is Dean Ambrose because he does not know. Does Dean know where he is? Does anyone care? The bottom line is that Dean was a feral animal and he had to be put down. This brings him to the ‘Brawn’ of the Shield, the Powerhouse Roman Reigns. When they were in the Shield together, all he heard was Roman Reigns is going to be the future of this company. He is going to put this whole thing on his back. Roman is the future of professional wrestling. What don’t you people understand when he reminds everyone that he created Roman Reigns. He is responsible for every success that Roman ever had.
While it may have been true that Roman would have been an integral part of this company when he put a target on Seth’s back. At Night of Champions, he will destroy what he created. We see footage from the end of Raw when the cage came down (almost onto Seth Rollins) for Reigns to be stopped after a cross body from the top of the cage.
Rollins says that brings us to himself. Seth Rollins, the architect, tactician, and greatest strategist of his generation. The only man left standing from the remnants of the Shield. He is the future and he is the future WWE World Champion. He is the future of this company and…Jack Swagger interrupts Seth and he is joined by his giant flag and Zeb Colter. Zeb tells Rollins that he cannot help but overhear what he is saying. Is Seth claiming credit for being the strategist and architect of the Shield? Zeb mentions generals who were known for their strategy and it does not include Seth’s name. Seth is on the list of people who is too scared to go head to head with his enemies and talk about them from a distance.
Zeb calls Seth an opportunist and a sell out and he is doing this for one person. Zeb says they should dispense of the small talk. Seth has a match against Jack tonight and he wants to see how tough Seth is.
Rob Van Dam versus Seth Rollins
They lock up and Rollins with a side head lock and shoulder tackle. Rollins rolls over Van Dam but Van Dam with a shoulder tackle. Van Dam misses a spin kick and Rollins misses a round kick. Rollins and Van Dam have words as they get face to face and Rob does his thumbs but Rollins with a kick and punches. Rollins kicks Van Dam in the corner. Rollins punches Van Dam and Irish whips him into the corner but Van Dam with an elbow and clothesline.
Rob sends Rollins into the turnbuckles and then Van Dam with a kick. Rollins hits Van Dam from behind while Rob does his thumbs deal again. Rollins kicks Van Dam followed by knees to the midsection. Van Dam with a rollup for a near fall. Van Dam with a body scissors roll up for a near fall. Van Dam with a kick to the head and he clotheslines Rollins over the top rope to the floor.
Van Dam gets on the ropes and he finally gets to show everyone who he is with his thumbs. Van Dam with a dive onto Rollins and he returns to the ring. Van Dam goes to the floor and then he rolls Rollins back into the ring but Rollins rolls to the floor. Van Dam goes to the floor and Rollins with a clothesline and we go to commercial.
We are back and Rollins with a key lock on Van Dam. Van Dam gets to his feet and he punches Rollins. Rollins sends Van Dam shoulder first into the ring post. Van Dam with punches but Rollins with a knee to the head to stop Van Dam. Rollins with a wrist lock and he wrings the arm. Rollins slams the arm into the mat and then he drops a knee on the arm.
Rollins with a snap mare to Van Dam and he returns to the key lock. Van Dam gets back to his feet and he punches Rollins and he sends Rollins into the turnbuckles. Both men are down as Van Dam gets some feeling back into his arm. Van Dam with clotheslines followed by a thrust kick and Van Dam with a kick to the midsection. Van Dam wrings the arm and then Van Dam with an arm drag and knee to the arm. Van Dam sends Rollins shoulder first into the ring post.
Van Dam with a springboard thrust kick and then he hits Rolling Thunder for a near fall. Rollins with an Irish whip but Van Dam with an elbow and Van Dam goes up top but Rollins pushes Van Dam off the turnbuckles and Van Dam hits the ringside barrier. The referee makes his count and Rollins encourages the count. Van Dam gets back into the ring at nine.
Rollins punches Van Dam and connects with forearms to the back before he sends Van Dam back to the floor. Rollins goes to the floor and he sends Van Dam into the ringside barrier. Rollins tries to send Van Dam into Yeatonville, but Van Dam reverses and Van Dam gets back into the ring as the referee makes the ten count.
Winner: Rob Van Dam (by count out)
After the match, Rollins tries to hit Van Dam but Van Dam with punches and a kick that forces Rollins to go to the floor.
Seth Rollins appears for an interview backstage. Rollins says it’s on the WWE Universe’s hands because they chose the stipulation. Lots of heroes have fallen on tough times lately. Cena, Jericho, Jack Swagger. They all let us down at SummerSlam. Swagger appears and confronts Rollins. They talk about talking tough to each other. Rollins says he won his match at SummerSlam, while Swagger was taking a nap after his match. Rollins challenges him to a match, but not tonight. They will face off on SmackDown.
