Backstage: Charly Caruso was interviewing Samoa Joe, who declared he wasn’t done with Seth Rollins when Seth attacked. They brawled until officials were able to separate them.
Seth Rollins vs. Samoa Joe
They began brawling around ringside, right past a trio of Taz Show signs.Joe was nailed with a clothesline off the ring steps. Rollins went to whip Joe into the barricade but Joe reversed it. Joe worked over Rollins but was kicked off as he charged in the corner. Joe blasted Rollins with an elbow as he rebounded off the ropes and began beating him in the face. Joe nailed a headbutt. He continued working over Rollins until Rollins landed on the apron. He nailed several rights but Joe used a legsweep and Rollins rudely went down and then fell to the floor. It looked awkward. When we returned from commercial, it was all the old school Joe offense, beating down Rollins and scoring several two counts. Joe kept the beating going as the crowd chanted for Rollins which sparked back and forth chants. Joe was sent through the ropes to the floor and nailed with a pair of suicide dives. Joe came back with a great scoop powerslam. Joe nailed a kick and a senton back splash for a two count. Rollins tried for a suplex but Rollins was able to turn it into a Falcon’s Arrow for a two count. Rollins nailed a kick but Joe grabbed him for a choke. Rollins drilled him in the ear to force a break.
Joe was kicked off as he went for a charge. Rollins was grabbed by Joe and grabbed the turnbuckle, which was pulled off. Rollins escaped Joe and jumped on his back but Joe slammed him into the buckles face-first. Joe slammed Rollins into the exposed buckle again, causing a DQ. Joe kept beating Rollins and locked in the choke.
Winner: Seth Rollins by DQ
In Ring: Seth Rollins came to the ring following his victory over Samoa Joe at Payback. Rollins said that other than being sore from fighting Samoa Joe, he’s feeling pretty good. He said the last few months, he’s had the highest of highs and lowest of lows and everyone was there with him. He said that sometimes, he was so low, he just wanted to give up but that’s part of life. He said you have to overcome and look in the mirror and if you don’t like what you see, you have to overcome. He said that he looked in the mirror and realized he’s still Seth Freaking Rollins.
Rollins said that at Wrestlemania he “slayed the King of Kings” and then last night, he got payback on Samoa Joe. There’s only one thing left for him to do and that’s Brock Lesnar. He said that he wants the Beast. The crowd loved that and began chanting “Yes!” Rollins said he wanted the Universal championship. He said that he’s been to Suplex City and he’s not afraid to go back. Finn Balor’s music hit and out came the former Universal champion. Balor said that they have been on the same page and he respects him. He called Seth the “one-legged man who won at Wrestlemania.” Balor said he’s the one-armed man who won the very first Universal championship. He reminded Seth of that moment, saying his arm was hanging from his body but still beat Seth at Summerslam. Balor said that he never actually lost the title, so the line starts with him. WWE Intercontinental champion Dean Ambrose hit the ring and said, “Brock Brock Brock Brock….you all sound like a couple of chickens.” Ambrose said Brock fights when he wants and it’s not all that often. Ambrose said that Raw should be about fighting champions and he’s the holder of the number one title on Monday Night Raw. He said that he was ready to fight and gets into fights he doesn’t even know he’s in. He wants to fight. Out came Marsye and The Miz. Miz said that Balor and Rollins haven’t earned anything while Ambrose is an embarassment as champion. Miz said that the title is really him, because he made the Intercontinental championship special. Balor said he was also the latest member of the “Finn Balor just kicked my a** Club.” Miz said he cheapshotted him and that proves he’s a coward. Miz said Dean was so unimportant he didn’t even defend the belt at Payback. He called Rollins a one legged man. Rollins said that with one leg, he can run circles around Miz in the ring. Miz said it’s not a running contest, it’s a fight and he beats people up. Miz went on and on until all three told him to shut up.
Dean said that he will defend the IC title anytime and he knows everyone wants to see The Miz get beat up. He asked if the fans wanted to see Balor or Rollins beat up the Miz. The crowd loved both ideas. Dean called Kurt Angle from in the ring. He spoke with Angle and then announced Miz vs. Balor vs. Rollins to determine the top contender for the Intercontinental championship. Continue Reading
Anderson and Gallows attack Colin as they go to the ring and then Anderson and Gallows attack Enzo. Samoa Joe emerges and then Anderson and Gallows hit Magic Killer on Enzo. Seth Rollins comes out and he goes after Anderson and Gallows before punching Joe. Gallows and Anderson triple team Rollins, but Colin fights back into the ring. Officials check on Enzo as we go to commercial. We are back and Kurt Angle announces that he has a replacement for Enzo Amore and it is…Finn Balor.
Finn Balor, Colin Cassady, and Seth Rollins versus Samoa Joe, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows
Balor does his usual entrance so Anderson, Gallows, and Joe attack Rollins and Cassady. Finn gets to the ring and we get Colin and Luke in the ring so the match officially starts. Colin with an Irish whip and he hits a splash and follows with a fallaway slam. Rollins tags in and he goes to the turnbuckles and punches Gallows and then Balor tags in and he connects with forearms and hits a drop kick. Gallows with a punch and Anderson tags in and he kicks Finn. Anderson with a sunset flip and Balor rolls through and hits a drop kick.
Joe tags in and gives Balor an Irish whip followed by a running back elbow and enzuigiri. Joe with jabs to Balor followed by an elbow to the head. Anderson tags in and he punches Balor. Anderson with an arm bar. Anderson with a back breaker and he gets a near fall. Gallows tags in and he connects with a series of punches. Gallows with a hammer lock. Gallows with a knee and Irish whip but he runs into a boot. Gallows with a side slam as Balor charges at him. Gallows with a thrust kick to Colin on the apron. Balor moves when Gallows goes for an elbow drop. Rollins and Anderson tag in and Rollins with clotheslines and a blockbuster followed by sling blade. Anderson pushes Rollins towards Gallows and Rollins with a boot to Anderson followed by an enzuigiri to Gallows. Colin with a running boot to knock Gallows off the apron. Rollins wants Joe and Anderson tries to attack Rollins from behind. Rollins throws Anderson to the floor and hits a suicide dive. Balor with a drop kick after Joe tries to attack Rollins on the apron. Rollins with a drop kick off the turnbuckles and then he sets for the pedigree but decides to hit an accordion knee to the head and he gets the three count.
Winners: Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, and Colin Cassady
Seth Rollins came out for commentary for Chris Jericho vs. Samoa Joe.
After the match: Joe took the mic and called out Rollins. He said, “Behind the mighty kingslayer.” He asked Seth if he remembered what it sounded like when Joe debuted. Joe said it was the sound of Rollins’ ligaments and joints breaking as he begged for mercy. Joe said that was just business because Seth was the chosen target to his benefactor, Triple H. Joe said that he cared about his clientele and he’s going to take out Seth for what he did to HHH and his wife, Stephanie McMahon. Joe said that it’s going to be very personal.
Rollins stepped atop the announcing table and said of course it’s personal. Joe tried to end his career. He said in two weeks, Payback is going to be a bitch.
